News & Announcements
LEADS (Lakota Enrichment and Academic Development of Students) is excited to announce The Write Challenge writing contest for all Lakota students in grades K-12.
Dear Creekside Families,
We continue to enjoy our March themes of Developmental Disabilities Awareness, Music in Our Schools, and National Reading Month at Creekside! We had a fantastic Author Visit with Erica Calson on Wednesday! If you’d like to order any of her books or stuffed animals for your child, please click here. To go along with our Book Fair next week, our whole school will enjoy a Readathon Spirit Week! We hope you can join us for some or all of our reading-themed days as our Cubs celebrate their growing love for reading!
Third quarter report cards are coming home in backpacks today. Please review your child’s report card, then sign and return the envelope only in your child’s backpack on Monday. If you have any questions about the report card, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Our March Principal Council’s meeting this past Monday gave Mr. Hartman the opportunity to hear from Cubs in each grade level as they shared their thoughts on PBIS, Cub Cash, and the Woot Woot Wagon at Creekside. Our Cubs have so many great ideas! We also saw several of our Cubs do an amazing job representing Creekside at the Lakota Board of Education meeting on Monday evening. We could not be more proud of our amazing kids!!!
Thank you to all who filled out the Woot Woot Wagon Family Survey! Aligned with some of your feedback, we want to share that the March Woot Woot Wagon will arrive on March 24 or 25, depending on your child’s homeroom. We are so excited to emphasize experiences - All experiences are on sale! - this month.
A reminder of our upcoming Creekside Community experience at a Dayton Dragons baseball game! Tickets can be purchased anytime before March 27 using the link below. Please check out this linked flyer for more information. Hope to see you at the ballpark!

Hi Families!
This month in our Purposeful People curriculum we are exploring the theme of cooperation. Please click on your child’s grade level to explore more ways to support this learning at home.
I am happy to support your family. Let me know how I can help.

Mr. Hartman's Weekly Communication to Parents
Dear Families,
Creekside is pleased to offer support to our students who have experienced the death of a loved one or friend. Companions on a Journey Grief Support, Inc. will be coming to Creekside beginning in September to provide students with the opportunity to discuss their experience(s) with peers who have had similar experiences. Students will meet in a confidential group setting to participate in various activities and discussions chosen to enhance their knowledge of the grief process and to encourage healthy grieving.
I will be facilitating the group along with a bereavement specialist from Companions on a Journey Grief Support, Inc. COJ is a social service organization that provides bereavement support and educational services for children, teens, and adults.
If your student is interested in attending the Bereavement Group, please email me at the address below. I will then send you an electronic consent form to complete. A consent form on file is needed in order to join the group..
COJ will be at Creekside on the first Tuesday of each month starting September 3. Our group time will be 10:50-11:30. We will have sessions once a month until the end of the year.
Every week I will send an electronic newsletter about what was covered so you can support their journey at home.
Please contact me if you have any questions or would like additional information. We look forward to working with your student and supporting them on their journey.
Thank you,
Jen Russell, School Counselor
